This is a great place

In a previous post I mentioned that, after almost 20 years of going to Shaver Lake, we are spending the family reunion/vacation on the coast.  We were all a bit apprehensive about the new place.  Would it be clean?  Would the sleeping arrangements work?  Would there be a BBQ?  What would the kids do for fun without a lake to run down to whenever boredom hit?

We needn't have worried.  This place is great.

There is a pool table, bikes, kayaks and an electric boat.  The cabin at Shaver Lake was very dark, with small windows and brown carpet.  This duplex is full of light and bright clean white carpet.  The kitchen at Shaver Lake was small and dark.  I hated cooking in it.  This kitchen is large and open, bright and clean.  And the coffee maker works.  At Shaver Lake we had two bathrooms but only one shower.  The upstairs bathroom which was closest for all the kids (five of them, plus four adults) had a toilet that worked sometimes, but not always.  The faucet in the sink dribbled water.  Again, dark and dirty.  There are 2.5 bathrooms here.  TWO showers that work great.  No running out of hot water.  No sudden fluctuations of hot and cold mid-shower.

At the lake, there was a very comfortable deck downstairs where we would BBQ, drink wine and relax.  Upstairs was another deck, long and narrow, where the kids would sleep with their sleeping bags lined up in a row.  We have a deck here as well, and a boat dock!!  My parents posed on the dock this morning before breakfast.

Coffee from our boarder.  It's yummy hot too!
After breakfast, we piled into the electric boat and went exploring in the canals.

Brett will arrive this afternoon.  Marie's husband and oldest son will arrive this evening.

So far, so good!
