He's an Over Acheiver

It rained most of last night and I woke to a beautiful, cold, clear day.

As I walked through the orchard on my way to the barn, rain drops were still clinging to the branches of the trees.

Closer to the barn, I could see the sunlight from behind me ricocheting off of the mountains in front of me.

After feeding the horses and mucking their stalls, I headed up to the goat area.  Glancing down to the pasture before I went in to give them hay, I could see Jackson getting a drink of water from the stock tank/pond.  I don't take pictures from this angle much and I think I need to change that.  You can see the road to our place on the right, the picture looks south along our fenceline.  The property ends where the white fencing stops.

After chores, I made my favorite breakfast: avocado on toasted baguette and coffee.

Then I settled down to wait for the vet to call with his evaluation of Winston.  My trainer wasn't able to evaluate him yesterday due to a very bad case of the flu but she said, based on the video, that he looked like a good match for me.

He passed the vet check.  With flying colors.  His feet are "pristine."  He was completely sound at all gaits, on hard ground, barefoot.  The vet liked everything about him.  He declared him solid.  His gaits are not spectacular (which I knew) but they are solid and he is well suited for dressage work.  X-rays are clean.

New horse in the barn Wednesday and fine wine with dinner tonight!  Yes, yes, YES!!
