It's a Winnie the Pooh Day

Today it's cold and blustery with a cold storm due to arrive tonight.  As I look out my office window, the sun is breaking through the waves of clouds gathering over the mountains.  The tree branches are swaying and I'm waiting for Winnie the Pooh to appear, floating up past my window, with his paw clutching a balloon.

This morning I rode Jackson.  Yes, you read that correctly - this morning I RODE Jackson.  It was a quick 20 minutes in the early morning fog before work.  But we were both happy.  He immediately reached for the bit, lifted his back and started trucking around the arena in a good frame.  No fights, no camel neck, just good work.  We only had time for a walk warm up and some trot work but that was fine since I didn't want to overdo it on his first day back to work after two weeks off.

Afterwards, when I was taking his tack off and giving him a quick rub down with the nubby rubber glove that he loves, he looked mellow and relaxed.  I gave him a hug, an apple and turned him back out in the pasture.

I don't care if it rains.  I don't care if it snows.  Happy days are here again!

  1. That's great news! I'm so glad he's over the problems he was having. Sounds like the little break was good for him - round and reaching for the bit right away - good stuff! What a great way to start the day.
