It's too cold and windy to bathe him. I'm quite certain he has an abscess in that left hind. He's hopping lame on it and the hoof feels warm. He wasn't thrilled with keeping his foot in the warm epsom salt water. After a short soak, I wrapped his foot up in epsom salt poultice, a baby diaper and Duck tape. One day of rain and here we are... again.
And, of course, rain is forecast everyday for the next week.
Maybe I'll ride again in July. In the meantime, I'm decorating the tree, baking Christmas cookies and wrapping gifts. ...and watching my hips expand.
i am really sorry jackson's hooves are such problems! i can only imagine how frustrated you must be!
ReplyDeleteRats Annette. I hope the abscess pops and the rain stops! Hugs to Jackson :)
ReplyDeleteHad to giggle about your last few sentences. Jackson and his feet - honestly! Hope it clears up before July.
ReplyDeleteCan we tape our hips tightly with Duck tape? I thought it was Duct tape, but I am continually finding that I don't know as much American English as one would expect. I have a vision of multiple ducks taped together.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about his foot. Hopefully, it clears up quickly. The good news is that he still looks like a dressage horse. Nice topline and hindquarters, Jackson!
ReplyDeleteawe poor Jackson..I went through the same thing with my Hound Dog for a year...there was light at the end of the tunnel for him,I sure hope Jackson's abscess drains so he can feel better, what a good momma he has to take such good care of him :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, that doesn't look like any fun.
ReplyDeleteI think it's supposed to be duct tape but it got dumbed down to duck tape.
If you lived closer I'd lend you a poultice boot;)
ReplyDeleteLOL, I said Xmas is a time of memories.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young in Borneo, we didn't wear shoes, not even jandals/flip flops. Before the stairs to go up the house, my grand dad and step grandma had a tub , we were suppose to go inside , rub our muddy feet, before we went up the house. Some of us just put our foot into the tub exactly like your house. When the mud dried inside, you hear no end of step grand ma,
