Getting Caught Up

Despite sleeping most of the night, I woke up tired and achy.  I think it will be a few more days before jet lag is behind me.  Yoga this morning definitely helped, but that was about all the activity I could handle.  I spent most of the day on the computer, working.  The weather was not welcoming - hot and sticky.

Brett cut down a tree that had died and when he came into the house I asked him "Did you play with the hose or is that sweat?"  He said it was sweat.  Ewwwwww.  He went back outside and a while later I found him resting at the new digs.

Guess who his new best friend is?  Yup, Little Bear.

Bella munched on his sleeve while Bear considered his next move.

My shoe laces are always popular, especially with Bella.

Thistle is a bit more subdued than the other two.
While I was gone, the donkeys finished shedding out their winter coats.  Tuffy was demonstrating his yoga moves to me.  At least, I think that's what he was doing.

Passage has discovered a new place to nap in the feed room.  Cats!  Crazy beasts --

Yesterday, Brett picked up our first CSA basket from the farm.  It was like Christmas!  A big basket of fresh, local, organic produce.

My rhubarb and tomato plants went bizerko while I was gone.

What do you think Lori?  Sacrifice a stalk or two for compote or pie?

This weekend, I'll tie up the tomato plants and try to restore order to the garden.  In the meantime, I picked the ripe tomatoes and pulled a beet -- we're going to have a big salad for dinner with seared ahi and all those lovely veggies I got in my CSA basket.

  1. That picture of the three goats around your feet is precious. And Passage - isn't that just like a cat - always pointing their behinds at us ;)

Hope your jet lag eases soon - welcome back!

  2. No peace to be found for napping in goat territory. Great pictures.

  3. It's going to take a little time to get back in your groove...oh well. I'm sure the trip was worth it. Those goaties have a great playmate.

As for the rhubarb...the more you pull out, the more it will grow. Go for it. I'm so glad it's doing well.

Love all those veggies. Our beets are not ready yet...we have 120 feet of them and I can't wait. Way behind you.

Your little buddies shed out beautifully and are looking adorable. I'll bet you missed all those critters.

  5. The photos are all just wonderful! Your goats are just like mine. I have been double lacing my shoe strings for months now. It probably looks pretty dorky to anyone who doesn't live with goats. Glad you're back!
