Sunday Stills: People

When Camille and I were in London a few weeks ago, the lady who ran our B & B recommended that we go to Portobello Street on Saturday morning.  She said it was "the place to be" on Saturdays and we would love it.  So we hopped onto the Tube and followed the crowds.  Hmmm, the fact that there were crowds to follow should have been a warning to us.   On Saturdays, Portobello Street is a huge street market.

The street and both sides of the sidewalk were mobbed with people.  There were vendors lining the sidewalks selling everything from jewelry to tee-shirts.  It was almost impossible to move.  We were carried down the street on a huge wave of humanity.  We found the experience very claustrophobic.

 

There were some good street musicians and interesting actors.

We made it about half way down the street and then we were done.  Both of us needed to be away from all the people, someplace where we could breathe.  We fought our way against the tide, through the masses of people, and back to the peace and quiet of our little neighborhood. 

Interesting but... Not my cup of tea.  At all.
