Oak Creek Flowers

There is a dense hedge of yellow flowers spilling out of a planter along the sides of the house. I have no idea what they are but I like them a lot. Can any of you help me with identification?

There are also roses growing up out of the yellow and green mound; hugging the front steps. Again, I don't know the variety but they are very fragrant which is the most important trait (for me) in a rose.

We're still waiting to hear from the lender. They appear to be okay with the residential delineation and are now focused on finding comparable properties, close by, to determine its value. Sheesh. And, there is no ETA on when they will finish. I had to laugh at all of the comments about me being calm. Camille called me today to see how I was doing. We talked the other day and she said she had never, NEVER heard me so stressed -- which stressed her out in turn. I think I'll be bald when this is over. I don't jump up and down screaming or crying. I glare at my computer screen and get migraines.

  1. well, glad the lender is over thru the first gate, at least.

  2. Try not to waste your energy as there is nothing you can do at this point. And I sure don't want you to go bald. Is Brett able to do anything outside of the house while you are at work?

  3. I know what kind of flowers they are! The kind that need to be trimmed back. And Lori, I do a lot outside the house when Annette is at work; I must go thru at least three bottles of wine each day. That's my way of dealing with all this stress with the lender.

  4. Oh Annette - so sorry about the real estate stress. If a recent job change and moving house weren't disruptive enough... thinking positive thoughts for you. :D

I think that mystery plant is St. John's Wort.

  5. Hi Annette I'm still keeping my fingers & toes crossed for you!
In the meantime, I can put your mind at rest re the yellow flower. It's what we call Rose of Sharon on this side of the Atlantic. Have a look at this link and you'll see its Latin name, too

  6. It sounds like a good first step over these hurdles. I don't know what kind of flowers those are, but both they and the roses should help to de-stress you.

  8. Okay, the fact that you are not really calm makes me feel better, because I'd be flippin' out if I were going through what you are right now. I started thinking that maybe I'm the only one who can't handle stress. But I hope everything settles and you can relax soon. I was posting picture of flowers and plants right after I moved, trying to find out what's poisonous.
