Rain in May?!

Today has been cold and foggy with intermittent showers.  The high was 48 or 49F.  Earlier this week, we had temperatures in the upper 80s, even hitting 90 one day.

My blasted foot is making for a very boring life.  I had a very busy week at work with days packed full of meetings.  I work for a hospital system and my meetings were not centralized at one location.  I spent my time walking in from, or out to, parking lots, up and down stairs, in and out of meeting rooms.  Last night, when I got home my toes mounted a full Monty protest.  I un-taped my toes to shower, and immediately felt nauseous.  I'm back on serious stall rest.  No, Inger, I am not supposed to be walking on my foot.  But, I don't want to use up all my vacation time sitting on the couch with my foot in the air.  I'm back to popping pain pills.  I'm sorry toes, really I am.  I'll try to be good.

But first I have to make dinner and I'm craving homemade rolls to go with the chard, hamburger and cheese casserole.

Brett's trying his best to help.  He's doing all the barn chores and bringing me stuff so I can stay on the couch. He found a boot that he used when his foot was broken and cleaned it up for me to use.  It helps keep my toes from moving which is a good thing.

I don't normally wear socks with my sandals, but it was COLD in the house today.

But the minute he dozes off in his chair, I pop up and sneak into the kitchen to check on my bread dough.

Tomorrow the weather is supposed to warm up.  The wind is going to howl tonight, blowing the rain clouds away from here.  My goal for the weekend is to rest my foot.  soooooo boring.

  2. You have the same kind of stove we have, how fun! Or very similar, I can't remember what they are called right now. Now that I'm pain free after two painful years with this and that, I really feel bad for you. I hope the weekend rest will help. We have had howling winds here for several days and cold temperatures too. Gray clouds came up this evening and I felt a drop or two of rain.

  3. For such small body parts - they certainly are inconvenient when out of commission. I hope your weekend "stall rest" does the trick. :)

  4. OK, I'm putting both you and Jackson on "stall rest" in his stall. I'm sealing both of you in. You can fight over what is left of the swiss chard after I am finished. You both can wear boots to keep your feet from getting worse. If either of you act up, then you will have to deal with Flash, (didn't work out too well the first time). And, I DENY sleeping in my chair. I was just checking what was on TV for you to watch this evening. Back to the kitchen to clean up. Love you!

  5. I think I lost my post to you, so here I go again. Brett and Gary are working overtime to help us with all the chores in and out. Too bad they can't go out for a beer afterwards...they are two peas in a pod. Right now he is working on the kitchen while I am on the couch with my feet up. Love that ice. In the long run, shouldn't the rain be good for you? We need some. The rolls look so good. Have you had much rhubarb? We have so much Gary has started to sell some. Later....

  6. Oh, your poor toes!

Those rolls look so good. I could eat them all!

We had terrible winds today - 44mph with gusts over 60. The horses are locked in and grumpy.
