Making Winston

I sent an email to Winston's breeder the other day thanking her for doing such an excellent job breeding my horse.  I thought she might like knowing where he is (I know if I were a breeder, I would be curious).

She sent me back a wonderful email and pictures!  And, of course, I have to share everything with you!

First, you take a talented beautiful sire who she described like this:
Winston comes from outstanding stock. His parents are still here at Gateway and are two of my favorites.  His sire, Wild Time Joker is not your typical, modern Appaloosa.  He is of sport type, big boned, great feet, sporty build, and an outstanding "I can do anything" temperament.  He is one of my favorite riding horses and is gentle enough to be ridden by children!  A beautiful mover with a beautiful mind, he excels in dressage and jumping.

And then you match him to a wonderful, talented mare:
Winton's dam, Deje', is my retired FEI dressage horse and is still everyone's favorite dressage schoomaster in my lesson program at age 29!!  Winston's 1/2 sister, Welteje', sustained an injury early in life and is here replacing her mother in our broodmare band, and she has produced an Elite mare, and a Filly foal champion!

And lookie what you get!  Presto!  (That's Winston's registered name)

Was he a cutie pie or what?!

  6. These are some awesome photos of some beautiful animals! I have to tell you, I had a registered black spotted appy once. He barely had any tail. I thought that was a characteristic of the breed. That stud has a wonderful tail.
