There isn't much to blog about in the heat of summer.
|
Pistol and Jackson, headed to dinner. |
We are up before the sun to feed and finish barn chores before the heat of the day starts settling in -- around 7:30am.
|
Brett bringing in the hay cart. Pistol has her nose in it -- they all ignore the manure cart. |
During the day, we hide inside (I hide at work during the week). Brett tosses more hay at lunch, but other than that the name of the game is trying to stay somewhat cool.
|
Wait for me! |
In the late evening, we venture back outside to feed.
|
Brett always has cookies. |
There isn't much else going on.
|
That's all? Just one cookie? |
It's too bad. It would be hard for me to achy. I love our summers. To not be able to go out would be hard.
ReplyDeleteI do exactly the same thing here, but I'm never bored. Sort of surprising that I am not bored. In the afternoons the dogs and I hide in our one airconditioned room and watch movies.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think we wouldn't have that problem, but a heat wave came in and won't leave. We're seeing 90s every day. It's too hot to work the horses. I feel sorry for them, too. It does take longer to heat up though. We can be safe until about 10 am. I hope it breaks.
ReplyDeleteI love the look on Jackson(?) in the last photo! Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteIt's been over 100F here the past week, and doesn't seem like it's letting up. I am trying to think of things to do during lessons that doesn't involve me getting heat exhaustion or overworking the horses. My instructor is very kind and willing to do a kind of "taking it easy" kind of lesson when the weather is too hot for me. Let me know if you have any ideas! ;)
The only thing that got me through lessons and shows in the heat was one of those cooling vests. I don't know if they are still available but they work really well. You dunk the vest in water, wring out the excess water, and wear it. It stays cool and damp for a long time.
DeleteI feel like Jackson is looking "busted" in that last photo! What a bunch of cuties!!!!
