I'm hopeful for the future. Its a much more difficult and time intensive path; but the rewards are so much higher. Its a path that brings deep and lasting joy. We humans were designed for relationship and so I think connection with horses does speak to us; if we listen.Oak Creek Ranchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02875705582058188289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-86312128687926009452017-06-15T07:07:14.990-07:002017-06-15T07:07:14.990-07:00I couldn't agree more with 5 and 7. I have found that those who agree with 5 are rare souls in the horse world. We know one of the trainers there -- (if that's what you call them). Her horse, Kalvin, was at our place for about a year while he was rehabbing from an injury. Great horse; great owner. Say hi from me if you see her around. ...and another Bach fan; high five!Oak Creek Ranchhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02875705582058188289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-75279472107612712462017-06-13T21:42:43.801-07:002017-06-13T21:42:43.801-07:00What an awesome gift that man gave you. I'm sure that horse at your stables is shut down. So sad but I'm so happy you are bringing him treats and showing him that not all people are demanding and aggressive. What is your earliest, clearest horse memory?
My sister's friend rode her horse to our house in San Clemente. Instant love affair with horses.

2. Describe the perfect summer day.
Picnic at the beach, with a huge SPF umbrella, a good book, and a comfortable chair.

3. Are you reading anything right now? Tell me about it!
David Cay Johnston's "The Making of Donald Trump". It's taking me forever to read it because every time I read a bit of it, I'm incensed that the Orange Cheeto (or Angry Yam) has gotten away with stuff for so long. Johnston is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, very credible.

4. Do you follow a celebrity (horsey or not) that fascinates you?
I'm keen right now on Elisa Wallace of Wallace Eventing. Not only does she train and ride high-end dressage horses, she also buys and trains Mustangs. She has a great YT channel (Wallace Eventing). Non-horsey person who fascinates me is Rachel Maddow of MSNBC. Love her integrity, thoughtfulness, and laser focus on political issues.

5. What is your single largest horse dream or goal?
Just to have another one. I had a Morgan/Quarter mare from my mid-teens to early 20s. Right now I'm getting my horse fix by volunteering at the Shea Center in San Juan Capistrano. It's a therapeutic riding center.

6. If you were at Starbucks right now, what would you order?
Not worried about calories: a Grande non-fat cappuccino and a choc croissant. Concerned about calories: a Grande Pike.

7. What is your biggest equine pet peeve?
Horses in small stalls.

8. With everything going on politically and in the media, do you follow it religiously? Tune it out? Something in between?
YES, I FOLLOW POLITICS, hourly, especially now.Although today, I did drive to and from work w/o the radio on; I reached my limit earlier today, but here I am, rushing to finish so I can watch Maddow's show at 6 pm.

9. If you had to show your horse to a song, what would you choose?
No clue here. I do love the Brandenburg Concertos

10. What are you most looking forward to this summer?
Successfully navigating getting 20 yo son transferred to college in NYC.
ENDKaren B in so californiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18389303961931974427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-11123585639976672202017-06-13T17:46:54.957-07:002017-06-13T17:46:54.957-07:00I don't have a blog, so here are a couple of t...I don't have a blog, so here are a couple of the ten questions:

What is your earliest, clearest horse memory?
I have a similar memory from my junior high school days of spending EVERY SINGLE FREE MOMENT of my time at my neighborhood horse stables. I took lessons once a week and I also got to know a very old man who owned an old harness racing horse and taught me how to put on the tack and connect the harness and eventually taught me how to drive it!! That was the most interesting experience of my life so far! I cannot fathom to this day how he trusted me, a young girl he barely knew, to take his horse around the track (it was next to the stables) by herself!! I was very sad recently to visit the area and find the stables were closed and a lot of the buildings were already demolished and gone. =(

What is your single largest horse dream or goal?
My dream used to be to own a horse someday and compete in dressage, but nowadays I am looking for that connection also. I still would like to own a horse one day, but the costs here are astronomical. So for now, I try to connect with the club horses. ;)
An American in Tokyonoreply@blogger.com
