He may be sore if he's not used to long schooling sessions/lessons. Maybe try another trail ride? I'm glad you were able to end on a positive note. :)Achieve1dreamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15401246064499148344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-3431186504055078942012-02-21T17:17:03.674-08:002012-02-21T17:17:03.674-08:00Sorry I read it wrong about the trot and the leg. ...Sorry I read it wrong about the trot and the leg. I should have explained better in my comment that I meant at the canter I make the mistake of exaggerating the leg. Instead of just going behind the girth to ask for canter I go overboard... going back and up, sort of like a chicken wing. It's too much and it's a bad habit I work on when I get reminded I'm "doing that again."Grey Horse Mattershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05837575441967937196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-62470284232513721792012-02-21T15:55:23.860-08:002012-02-21T15:55:23.860-08:00It's always good to end the session on a posit...It's always good to end the session on a positive note. I guess Winston is young and it's going to take time to get it all right. Sometimes it seems like it takes forever, but one step at a time to build on and he'll get there.

I still do that leg back to cue the canter once in a while. Don't know where it came from but I guess it worked at some time and I revert back to it once in a while.Grey Horse Mattershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05837575441967937196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-76841820952015530362012-02-20T18:57:39.425-08:002012-02-20T18:57:39.425-08:00I've had Crispy do that hoppy canter thing bef...I've had Crispy do that hoppy canter thing before as well. It's strange- definitely a feeling akin to collection.
He has the same reaction to Winston too- ask for forward, and he gets frustrated and reary.
I wonder what it's all about?Leeshhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08504626914889252270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-87497453502754469802012-02-20T16:44:34.170-08:002012-02-20T16:44:34.170-08:00I am just astounded at how much work riding is.
