I had to look up "Chicago screws" - now I know what one is! I've never used one. Our bridles are all English or driving, and they have "pig ear" fastenings.Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13944121836337072178noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-71912872986780627762012-05-19T07:12:59.653-07:002012-05-19T07:12:59.653-07:00As a newbie rider who has only ridden school horse...As a newbie rider who has only ridden school horses, I confess, I know nothing about tack. Actually, what I don't know about horses could fill a football stadium. We had a 6-horse hitch of Percherons breathing down our necks and no where to go. I wound up slipping the crown of the bridle in my horse's mouth with the brow-band over her nose, the reins tied to the ends of the cheek pieces and we rode out that way. When I finally made it home alive, I threw out every piece of tack I owned that used Chicago screws and I haven't used any since.

Your new bridle is very pretty. Especially those leather ties and sturdy buckles:)The Dancing Donkeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16274299120708749101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4964477228579644195.post-25494124339706362592012-05-18T20:15:07.049-07:002012-05-18T20:15:07.049-07:00I don't envy you buying new gear.
